ABOUT PEOPLEASE

Peoplease is a leading Professional Employer Organization (PEO) providing solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in the blue and gray-collar industries. We enable our clients and partners to achieve their aspirations by offering world-class service and administrative solutions in payroll, human resources, benefits, and risk management. At Peoplease, we foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, driven by our core values: Engagement, Integrity, Tenacity, Curiosity, Happiness, and a Service-obsessed mindset.

POSITION SUMMARY

Peoplease is hiring a Business Development Associate (BDA) to join our sales team. The purpose of the Sales Department is to drive sales, retain existing customers, and grow the organization. This is an entry-level, development-focused role, and we hire for attitude, not experience. As a BDA, you will create qualified opportunities for our Sales Consultants by running a structured outbound motion focused primarily on insurance brokers, the referral partners who bring Peoplease to their clients. You will book broker meetings, follow up on events and conferences, qualify inbound and direct leads, and execute targeted outbound initiatives into blue and grey-collar industries. All outreach follows Peoplease's channel rules of engagement, which govern how this role works with brokers, broker-sourced leads, and prospects already represented by a broker. All activity is managed in our CRM and supported by AI-centric outbound tools.

The ideal candidate is motivated, coachable, and comfortable talking to people all day. You do not need PEO, insurance, or business-to-business sales experience. We will teach you the business: PEO services, workers' compensation, benefits, payroll, and how brokers build and serve their book. What you bring is work ethic, a positive attitude when a conversation does not go your way, a track record of acting on feedback, and a clear picture of where you want to go. Success in this role is measured by both activity and the quality of the opportunities you create. Through a defined development program with learning milestones and performance expectations, you will build the skills to be considered for a full-time Sales Consultant role.

Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to function as a remote employee in a distributed work team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions:

  • Broker outreach: Prospect insurance brokers and agencies daily by phone, email, LinkedIn, and video to secure introductory and strategic meetings for Sales Consultants.
  • Broker mapping: Research and map target broker firms in your territory, including principals, producers, and benefits and P&C leaders.
  • Broker nurture: Build broker relationships through consistent, value-driven touchpoints that turn first meetings into active referral partners.
  • Rules of engagement: Follow Sales Ops channel rules of engagement, including how broker-sourced and marketing-sourced leads are handled and how to proceed when a prospect is already represented by a broker or sits in a broker's book; confirm broker of record before outreach and route conflicts per the rules.
  • Event follow-up: Follow up promptly with brokers and prospects from conferences, trade shows, webinars, and Peoplease events, converting attendance into booked meetings.
  • Lead qualification: Respond quickly to inbound, marketing, and direct leads and qualify them against Peoplease criteria: industry fit, employee count, decision-maker access, timing, and broker of record.
  • Clean handoffs: Pass qualified opportunities to Sales Consultants with a complete CRM brief covering who, why now, key pain points, the decision maker, and the broker relationship.
  • Targeted outbound: Execute targeted campaigns by industry, geography, or broker segment using sequences and AI-centric tools, personalized with firm research, trigger events, and renewal timing.
  • Activity, quality, and CRM discipline: Meet daily and weekly activity standards (calls, conversations, meetings set) while also meeting quality measures such as meeting-to-opportunity conversion, handoff completeness, and CRM accuracy; Go Home Green every day; and log all activity accurately in the CRM.
  • Compliance: Follow all applicable outbound communication laws and company policy, including TCPA, Do Not Call (national, state, and internal lists), state telemarketing rules, email marketing requirements, and call-recording consent rules in two-party consent states. Complete required compliance training before beginning outbound activity.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Sales Consultants, Directors of Sales, and Marketing on campaign feedback and handoff quality.
  • Development: Complete the development curriculum and learning milestones, including PEO product training, role plays, call reviews, certifications, and active participation in coaching sessions.
  • Embody PEOPLEASE’s core values in your daily work.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the manager’s discretion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • No PEO, insurance, or business-to-business sales experience required; 0 to 2 years in a people-facing role (sales, hospitality, retail, service, athletics, or similar) is a plus.
  • Motivated and goal-oriented, with real examples of setting a goal and achieving it.
  • Coachable, with a history of taking feedback and acting on it quickly.
  • Positive, steady, and professional when conversations do not go as planned; comfortable with high-volume outreach.
  • Clear, confident verbal and written communication.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to run a structured daily activity plan.
  • Comfortable learning new technology, including CRM and AI-based tools; working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards, compliant outreach practices, and fostering diversity.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving work environment.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND CURRICULUM

Associates complete a structured curriculum that builds knowledge as well as results. Progression to Sales Consultant is considered when learning milestones and performance expectations are both met, and subject to role availability and manager and leadership approval.

  • Consultative selling: Can run a discovery conversation, ask good questions, and qualify against Peoplease criteria.
  • The broker channel: Can explain how brokers build and serve their book, how Peoplease works with them, and how the rules of engagement apply.
  • CRM and sales tools: Can manage a pipeline, run sequences, and write a complete CRM handoff brief.
  • Business and financial acumen: Can read a prospect's industry and basic financial drivers and connect them to the value Peoplease offers.
  • Compliant outreach: Can apply TCPA, Do Not Call, telemarketing, and call-recording consent requirements to daily outreach.
