Senior Payroll Tax Accountant

Peoplease is looking for a qualified Senior Payroll Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team. The position will have the unique opportunity to play a critical role in managing payroll taxes as part of a joint tax team across four entities. You will engage in all activities related to payroll tax, including the reconciliation, filing, and disbursement of Federal, State and Local obligations.
An ideal candidate will be a self-starter, ability to work with tight deadlines, demonstrate strong understanding of PEO industry, payroll tax environment and working knowledge of Prism and Master Tax systems. Execute special projects, demonstrate excellence in communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the tax team members, clients, and tax authorities and is a problem solver.
Candidate must be able to function as a remote employee in a distributed work team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for daily/quarterly/year-end tax reconciliation from Prism to Master Tax including discrepancy documentation, resolution, and communication as needed to internal staff.
- Ensure the remittance of recurring daily tax obligations to the proper taxing authorities.
- Support tax administration and client services through the management of tax notices and audit requests
- Review, assign and ensure client requests are addressed in a timely manner.
- Support tax administration and client services through the processing of daily, monthly, and quarterly tax payments.
- Support quarterly tax reconciliation and close processes to meet statutory Federal, State and Local deadlines.
- Research regulatory law changes and ensure compliance.
- Participate in a wide variety of ad-hoc reports, special projects, process improvements and analysis as necessary.
- Communicate with clients and internal personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience.
- PrismHR and Master Tax Software experience required.
- Position requires 3-5 Years of experience working with Federal, State, and Local tax laws.
- Payroll tax experience required.
- Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience highly preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency working in complex systems.
