The PEOPLEASE Group is looking for a qualified Workers’ Compensation Premium Auditor to join our team. The Workers’ Compensation Premium Auditor performs virtual and physical audits of the highest complexity ensuring the accuracy of workers’ compensation classification coding and premium risk calculations. Responsible for handling of audits within The PEOPLEASE Group’s Workers’ Compensation insurance offering(s). Investigates and verifies the premium base exposures according to policy contract terms, manual rules, company filings, and procedures. Maintains a solid understanding of The PEOPLEASE Group’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of The PEOPLEASE Group organization.

An ideal candidate will have the ability to manage and execute the coordination of multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations; demonstrated excellence in communication skills; be able to inform both orally and in writing; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Demonstrate the ability to perform detail-oriented tasks; interact, coordinate, follow up, and effectively communicate with all other team members, regional teams, Senior Management, carriers and Third-Party Administrators.

Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to function as a remote employee in a distributed work team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and skill in performing virtual and physical audits on Workers Compensation policies under limited supervision. Examines records to ensure that workers compensation classification coding and calculations of premium for risks are accurate.
  • Performs audits across the company with focus on The PEOPLEASE Group Major Accounts Program, with overnight travel required potentially up to 10% of time.
  • Primary owner of the Premium Audit relationship with our workers compensation carriers. Directly work with the carrier audit team to perform annual audits and address issues throughout the policy period.
  • Performs other value add services for The PEOPLEASE Group Major Accounts Programs including new business service calls, scheduled check-ins with key account personnel.
  • Point of contact for assigned Major Accounts and communicates collaboratively with insured’s, underwriters, account managers, and producers.
  • Identifies, researches, and corrects class coding issues discovered during the audit process. Works to resolve audit discrepancies and disputes of the highest complexity. Communicates directly with the carrier throughout the process.
  • Validates that the correct classes are applied and are in accordance with governing regulatory agencies and/or independent state bureaus and company procedures by reviewing financial records and other relevant materials. Assists in handling and clearing test audits and other bureau inquiries.
  • Reviews results of audits with producers, underwriters, insured’s, and Risk Management team leadership.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to other risk management team members.
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers throughout the life cycle of the premium audit function.
  • Keeps current with manual rules, market trends and demands.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline
  • 4+ years premium audit field experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, analytical, customer service and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred:

  • 7+ years of premium audit field experience
  • Experience with NCCI and independent state bureaus preferred
  • Associates in Premium Audit Program (APA) certification preferred.
