Peoplease is looking for a qualified Regional Safety & Loss Control Manager - Northeast to join our team. The purpose of the Safety Department is to provide support to our clients with appropriate safety and health training and guidance. The Regional Safety & Loss Control Manager is required to make annual in-person visits to Peoplease clients within the southeast region of the United States.  Periodic virtual and telephonic visits may be requested as well.  The purpose of these visits is to discuss with the clients any safety issues they might have, review individual loss runs with the client, address these losses and work with the client to eliminate them.  This position will also help their clients by evaluating safety programs, help them with safety meeting topics, and provide them with safety and loss-related posters.

An ideal candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to function as a remote employee in a distributed work team.  The candidate will also have the ability to manage and execute the coordination of multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations; demonstrated excellence in communication skills; be able to inform both orally and in writing; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Demonstrate the ability to perform detail-oriented tasks; interact, coordinate, follow up, and effectively communicate with other team members, regional teams, Senior Management, and Third-Party Administrators.

This individual must be a self-starter with the ability to function as a remote office employee with a distributed workforce. This position does require regular travel to client locations (around 75%). Candidates residing in the following states are preferred: Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Takes a direct role in initiating and advising in the development of plans required to control losses from personal injury
  • Makes studies and analyses of incidents, accidents, causes, and hazards - for use by company safety managers, directors, client owners, and company personnel
  • Examines injury exposures while identifying trends and developing programs to improve results
  • Assesses injury frequencies while producing root cause analyses on occupational incidents and injuries; analyzing past losses to prioritize and direct safety initiatives
  • Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed in compliance with local, state, and federal rules & regulations as well as other consensus standards such as: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).  A Regional Safety & Loss Control Manager may be asked to conduct complimentary OHSA walkthroughs and DOT file reviews to help clients prepare for actual agency audits
  • Participates in writing policies and procedures for on-going and proactive safety and loss control programs
  • Implements training programs about employee safety procedures and accident protection & prevention
  • Receives and answers inquiries from the clients
  • Reviews and recommends corrective action or additional precautions for high frequency and high severity incidents
  • Conducts on-site risk assessments to detect existing or potential accident & health hazards, and recommends corrective/preventive actions
  • Assists and participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries:
  • Cooperates in the preparation of materials and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations
  • Compiles and submits accident reports to Corporate Council
  • Determines prevention strategy for similar losses and shares lessons learned with Safety & Loss Control personnel
  • Maintains familiarity with PEO’s, workers’ compensation programs, including working with insurance carriers, 3rd Party Claims Administrators and attorneys to cut down on lost employee time through transitional duty programs and reduction of unjust claims
  • Provides on-site training classes, creates and implements safety programs
  • Provides customer service and support to Peoplease Client base
  • Provides claim handling assistance for all ongoing claims and return to work programs

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Experience in a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) environment preferred
  • College degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Intermediate to Advanced level knowledge Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and regulations required
  • 2+ years of transportation experience a plus
  • Ability to advise on DOT and OSHA compliance
  • Ability to create, implement, and maintain work comp transitional duty programs
  • Ability to write site visit reviews
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with groups of managers, clients, and customers
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and/or government regulations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form
  • Ability to communicate policies and procedures, internally and externally 
  • Intermediate level computer skills with an emphasis on Office 365  
  • Proficiency & understanding of risk management and insurance contracts
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time, with a focus on the Northeast part of the continental United States. Candidates residing in the following states are preferred: Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky

This position will be working primarily indoors and some of the time in an outdoor environment. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying temperatures. The normal auto and air travel hazards will apply.
