Position Summary
Peoplease is seeking a qualified Risk Operations Manager to lead the risk operations team. The Risk Operations Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and optimizing the risk management function within our organization. This role will guide a dynamic team to produce high-quality documentation, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement operational best practices. The Risk Operations Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage key reports, and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
This role requires the ability to manage and execute the coordination of multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations; demonstrated excellence in communication skills; be able to inform both orally and in writing; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Demonstrate the ability to perform detail-oriented tasks; interact, coordinate, follow up, and effectively communicate with Risk Department team members, regional teams, Senior Management, and Third-Party Administrators.
Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to function as a remote employee in a distributed work team.

Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a team of risk management professionals to achieve department goals.
- Oversee the daily operations of the risk management team, ensuring that all deliverables are timely, accurate, and adhere to quality standards.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, proactively addressing operational challenges and fostering professional growth.
- Foster a team environment that encourages accountability innovation, and high performance.
Operational Oversight & Documentation
- Supervise the production of quality, compliant documentation (including state-specific wage statements, wage forms, and client posting notices), ensuring precision and timeliness.
- Oversees the generation of policies, organizes policy documentation, and ensures proper policy renewals are enacted on behalf of clients.
- Provides operational oversight to ensure timely and accurate completion of COI (certificates of Insurance), loss run reports, injury notifications, wage reporting standards, and ClientSpace ticketing processes in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Develops, implement, and ensure adherence to established standards, processes, and best practices throughout the risk operations department.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Develop and implement risk management policies, processes, and programs that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA, HIPAA, ADA).
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and TPAs to ensure timely and accurate claims processing and reporting.
- Work closely with nurse triage providers to ensure proper intake procedures, clinical document and follow-up protocols
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, regulatory updates, and technological advances that impact risk operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for risk operations internally, coordinating activities with Safety, Claims, Underwriting, Client Advocates, and other cross-functional teams
- Integrate triage insights into compliance and safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance departments to stay current with applicable regulatory requirements and laws.
- Oversee communication channels, including monitoring of multiple email inboxes and claims hotline voicemail systems to ensure prompt and accurate responses.
- Act as a liaison with external stakeholders such as clients, insurance carriers, and vendors, ensuring that communication is accurate, clear, professional, and effective.
Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives
- Proactively identifies and drives strategic initiatives to improve operational resilience and client service quality.
- including but not limited to: initial claim information, loss runs, COIs, state/federal regulatory requirements, policy verification
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations during departmental meetings, planning sessions, and insurance renewals.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in the insurance industry
- Proven working knowledge DOT, FMCSA, HIPAA, and ADA guidelines in applicable assignments.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management or a related operational role leading or supervising a team
- Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation claim handling and the certificate of insurance process.
- High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
- Adaptability to constantly evolving environments while demonstrating flexibility which meets or exceeds client’s expectations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build robust relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving abilities in dynamic, evolving environments.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related business software
Preferred:
- PEO (Professional Employer Organization) experience is preferred.
- Experience with managing complex reporting systems and supervising multiple communication channels within a risk management context.
- Experience in high-growth or fast-paced operational environments is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires regular communication and occasional travel to support the distributed workforce. The role will primarily function indoors but may involve working in varying temperatures or outdoor environments as needed.
