Senior Compliance Paralegal

Peoplease is looking for a qualified Senior Compliance Paralegal to join our team.
This role supports the Legal Department in both compliance and commercial matters. The Senior Compliance Paralegal will work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate across a distributed, remote team. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-state regulatory environment

Compliance
- Track, interpret, and summarize new and existing federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies impacting the PEO business and multi-state employment practices.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of employment, labor, HR compliance, and corporate governance laws.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research to support compliance initiatives, policy updates, and risk mitigation.
- Support enterprise risk management efforts by monitoring known risks, assessing internal control effectiveness, and assisting with remediation of identified gaps.
- Manage company insurance cert program.
- Handle administrative tasks as needed.
Corporate/Commercial
- Assist with insurance policy management and renewals.
- Support vendor contract review and administration
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with HR, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Client Success teams to ensure consistent interpretation and application of compliance policies and practices.
- Provide compliance guidance to leaders and stakeholders, in coordination with counsel, employee relations and laws impacting business operations.
- Develop and share compliance tools, updates, and resources in a timely and effective manner.
Data & Reporting
- Utilize metrics and business data to inform compliance priorities and recommendations.
- Research and analyze compliance-related data, preparing reports on initiatives, trends, and outcomes for leadership.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on regulatory trends, compliance with best practices, and industry standards relevant to PEOs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Legal and Compliance function.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree required; Paralegal certification or JD preferred.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible paralegal experience in employment law/HR compliance, corporate governance, litigation support, contract management, or licensing.
- Working knowledge of employment and labor laws, HR compliance, and regulatory frameworks; multi-state/multi-jurisdiction experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and partner across departments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with HRIS systems (Prism a plus) and document management tools preferred.
